Harmony Adult Education

Computer skills are important for many aspects of life and work in the 21st century. Get more comfortable using computers and maybe even prepare for a future career.

Harmony offers free, self-paced computer skills training through the Northstar Digital Literacy program. Available online, the course covers essential topics like basic computer use, email, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, social media, and more. Students can work at their own pace from home or during our open computer lab times. Onsite assessments can earn certificates that can be shared with current and potential employers.

Want to learn English anytime, anywhere?  Busy with work or childcare or you want to advance your English skills at a faster pace? Talk to us about our distance learning options for learning English.  

We have free options for all levels of English that can be accessed on your phone, personal device or with in person support during our open computer lab hours. We have several options for improving English and learning reading, grammar, pronunciation, career specific language and much much more! Students can work on their English skills at their own pace, anytime and anywhere!

Are you interested in a rewarding career working with students in a school? Study with us to prepare for a career as a paraprofessional.

Harmony offers online ParaEducator preparation and in-person testing at Harmony Learning Center in Maplewood. 

Adults seeking employment as a paraprofessional are often required to have an associate’s degree or at least 60 college semester credits. The ParaEducator test is an alternative way to satisfy this requirement.

We offer no-cost study classes and practice tests for the ParaEducator test. Testing is also available onsite. Students are responsible for testing fees, but financial assistance may be available to those applying for positions in District 622. Are you interested in a career in health care? We can help you train for an entry-level position on a track toward a career as a Home Health Aide (HHA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN). We work with local Senior Housing and assisted living and memory care facilities to help workers find employment.

Healthcare Bridge

Prepare for the college courses by learning medical terminology. Classes have started but enrollment is still accepted. Register soon. Classes are filling fast for the fall.

*  It is not too late to register for the Healthcare Bridge/CNA that is currently in session. This cohort culminates with the state test on December 8th, 2025. The next cohort will start on January 5th, 2026, with the state test scheduled for June 8th, 2026.

CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)

This class will be held at Century College and at Harmony Learning Center. Class runs four afternoons per week and includes mandatory classroom training and skills training. The class is designed to help all students pass and is free for students. Upon completion of the class, students may take a test to become certified. Job placement assistance is available for students who successfully complete the program. The cost of tuition, books, a set of scrubs, and the state test is covered by Harmony.

We offer a twelve-week course designed to give ESL learners a better understanding of everyday life in the U.S and to prepare for the citizenship test.

Begin a career as a school bus driver in School District 622! If you do not have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and/or school bus endorsement, we will help you get it.

Contact Hmong American Partnership at 651-746-9725 for CDL program.

The course offers individualized education opportunities for adults such as college entrance exam prep. A drop-in class is offered at Harmony Learning Center.

A test prep course is offered for students interested in taking college entrance tests or Military testing.

Classes run for 6 weeks. Contact Harmony to see when the next class is starting. Must be enrolled in another class at Harmony.

This is not "behind the wheel practice". The class will prepare you to take the DMV Knowledge Test for driving in Minnesota.
